Not much has been going on on my design front... however, I have gotten a few freelance jobs. Not much money though. Lots of people are being very tight with budgets so I know I'm not being paid what I should... Either way, it's still not enough coming in for me to even pay rent or live off of. I'm not too worried though.

Speaking of jobs, I've turned in well over 40 resumes 'n such and nothing back from anyone, or if I have heard back it's "we're not hiring right now" (then WHY did you put something up on a place like CareerBuilder? ...) or "we'll be looking at resumes in a few weeks" or "I'm sorry, you're over qualified and we can't give you a job." -.- Ugh... Either way... I've got nothing. However, I'm almost tempted to halt my search.

My fiance is now in the market for a job (he's a video game technical artist) and there's a few places that are hiring. However, all of them are outside of Orlando and even Florida in general... so that means, we'll probably have to move. So, with that in mind, I think it's best that I just try to build up my portfolio for when we move and I have to find a job elsewhere. (I'm hoping he gets a job at Insomiac in North Carolina. I think I'd like it up there.)

As far as freelancing goes, my latest post has the new logo I did for the American Marketing Association Central Florida Chapter (what a mouth full! :lmao: ). I got that from one of the ladies I knew at my (un-paid) internship at the UCF Alumni Association last Spring. Another good thing that's come from that is my old boss has given me a portfolio building design project... to design the new UCF Credit Cards ^_^ YEAH! I don't get paid, but it's great for my portfolio and he's going to give me tickets to universal lol.

Well, not much else has happened... the wedding's coming shortly and I gotta finish my invitations 'n such. I'll probably post them when their done. :)

TTUAL!

Janaye C. Melsha graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in Graphic Design. During her time at UCF, in addition to her extensive studies in color theory, typography, layout practices, and related subjects, she functioned as the sole student graphic designer for the UCF Alumni Center during her internship there; handing all manner of marketing and internal design work from print to websites and mass mailers. In addition, she had previously held the distinction of being the primary designer on staff at the campus copy center, where she provided timely logo, print, and marketing design and layout work for students, faculty, and many of the on campus businesses. In her spare time, she did additional pro-bono work for organizations in and around Orlando and her home town of Mount Dora, such as her first employer, the Inland Lakes Railway. Since graduation she maintains her residence in Orlando, and continues to seek clients with vision she can help translate into visual reality.
